Rube Woolsey is your guide to roping success.

“I would highly recommend Rube’s school. He takes each roper and works with them individually. He then tells them the same thing yet in different ways to help each roper understand. He has a way of teaching that helps you understand how the rope works and the mechanics of the rope. Why the rope reacts the way it does and how to make it work correctly. I would suggest to everyone no matter what level roper you are to attend one or more of Rube’s schools.”

Attending Rube Woolsey’s roping school for the past few years has been very beneficial to my heeling. He has helped me with my horsemanship and roping techniques, which have advanced me to a higher number roper. Rube’s schools are for individuals who want to further their roping abilities. My partner and I have been in the local IPRA rodeo for the past six years and have placed every year anywhere within the top six teams. Thanks Rube! I recommend Rube Woolsey’s roping school to anyone learning how to rope or to the higher number ropers.
Thanks,

Over the years, I have attended several schools by professional team ropers but I have seen the most improvement in my roping since becoming a student of Rube Woolsey. He is by far the easiest to learn from due to his simple explanation of the basics. No matter how ugly my run looked, Rube has always found the positive in it, which encourages me to improve and try harder.
Thank you Rube for reminding me every year that consistency is first and quality is better than quantity.
Looking forward to the future!

Rube Woolsey gives you the tools to become a better roper. He doesn’t rope for you, he teaches you how to rope.

I retired after 25 years in corporate America and took up team roping as a hobby in March of 2008. During my working career I have been to a lot of training and have taught many workshops and seminars. I started taking Roping lessons from Rube Woolsey in April and have been very pleased with the job Rube has done. Rube adapted his teaching style to my learning style and did a great job explaining the key concepts of roping in a way that I could understand and quickly learn. Rube is one of the best instructors/trainers that I have worked with anywhere. His passion for his craft is obvious and comes across in every lesson.

I highly recommend Rube as an instructor for anyone from a beginner, to an advanced roper. He has always been very informative, professional and you can tell he honestly cares about each student and their abilities. He is truly gifted in the way he explains things so that you can understand them. It has been real enjoyable to have gone to multiple schools and learn something new every time from an instructor that seemingly has no ego.

We have been coming to Arizona for the last six years and have been staying at Rube and Carrie Woolsey’s Walking N Camp and Arena. We like to rope and just be around the livestock so for us this is the place to be. There are always plenty of steers to rope and Rube gives lessons every day for the first three or four days of the week. Lessons usually start at 9:00 am and you can rope till 3:00 or 4:00pm every day. There is always a mixture of cattle from slow to fresh so you can work on your roping at any speed you want to.
There is always a reason to have a campfire and cookouts, which are always a lot of fun, and there is always plenty to eat and drink. The friends we have met at camp have become very good friends. We would recommend to anyone that is going to spend the winter in Arizona roping, barrel racing or just bringing horses with them to check out Rube and Carrie’s Walking N Camp and Arena.

I wanted to go somewhere in the winter months where it was warmer and I could work on my heeling. I did my homework and found a number of winter roping camps in Arizona but the Walking N is the only one with a resident bono fide instructor in Rube Woolsey. Some one that is there every day and some one that will keep you from practicing your mistakes. This is really quality practice where there are higher number ropers coming to rope every day.

Rube not only makes you enjoy roping, he makes you crave it.

You never know you hold the certain skills to become a better roper until someone like Rube unlocks the talent.

I started team roping March of 2008, shortly after that I met Rube Woolsey and started taking lessons. Pretty soon I was learning the basics roping and riding. I found Rube to be an outstanding teacher and coach; he figured out how I learn and adapted his teaching style to fit me, which accelerated my learning. I finished 13th out of 425 teams at my 3rd roping and have made the short round at several more. As my roping and riding ability improved Rube has done a great job of teaching me how to rope safely, and competitively while making each lesson fun and educational.
